Experience with Varian True Beam or Edge, Aria
Basic operations of Linear Accelerators;
Varian Truebeam, Trilogy, Acuity, and GE Lightspeed CT preferred
Experience in SBRT, SRS, and Breath hold Visual Management
Description:
Simulate and administer radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and directed by the Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist.
Interpret the prescription and treatment plan.
Complete patient identification processes according to department procedure.
Maintain audio and visual surveillance of the patient during treatment.
Consistently and accurately position the patient for treatment.
Image the patient as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.
Annotate portal images as appropriate and consistently and accurately.
Observe patients for side effects of radiation, changes in behavior, or unusual reactions, and report observations to the Radiation Oncologist, nurse, or supervisor.
Utilize a digital camera to document treatment positions and tattoos on the patient's skin.
Safely transfer patients from stretchers or wheelchairs using proper body mechanics and transfer techniques.
Perform simple Rad Calc calculations for emergency treatments.
Construct quality immobilization devices that promote reproducible patient positioning.
Tattoo patients accurately and visibly as appropriate and practice safe handling of needles.
Participate in daily chart rounds to coordinate patient care.
Complete Aria chart checks according to department policy.
Complete weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks, and document appropriately.
Accurately fabricate custom blocks.
Coordinate simulation with the clinic to support continuity of care.
