Your role with us

As a medical staff coordinator at Salem Health, you become a key guardian of clinical quality and regulatory integrity. In this role, you'll ensure that every provider who walks through our doors is thoroughly vetted, accurately credentialed, and fully supported, further protecting patient safety and upholding the standards that define our organization. You'll work at the intersection of compliance, process improvement, and provider relations, using your attention to detail and strong writing skills to maintain meticulous records, support Medical Staff leadership, and keep our credentialing operations running smoothly.

What you'll do

  • Manage credentialing workflows by overseeing all aspects of appointment, reappointment, privileging, provisional status, and temporary privileges to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant credentialing.
  • Maintain regulatory-ready documentation by collecting, analyzing, and preparing credentialing files that meet standards set by The Joint Commission (JCAHO), NCQA, and state and federal agencies.
  • Support Medical Staff leadership as you provide professional and technical assistance, including drafting clear, concise, and compliant Medical Staff meeting minutes.
  • Lead process automation by maximizing the use of automation tools to streamline credentialing and privileging workflows.
  • Guide new providers as you assist in the orientation of new Medical Staff members and privileged practitioners, ensuring a smooth and informed onboarding experience.
  • Serve as departmental leadership backup by providing leadership support in the absence of the Manager of Medical Staff Services.
  • Drive continuous improvement by participating in ongoing evaluation of processes to ensure compliance, efficiency, and alignment with Salem Health’s strategic goals.
  • Safeguard sensitive information as you manage confidential and time-sensitive matters with professionalism, tact, and sound judgment.

Required qualifications

  • Associate degree is essential;
    However, four years of experience in a health care or administrative support setting may be considered equivalent to an associate’s degree at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Additional information

  • Minimum three years of experience in a medical-related setting preferred.
  • Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal with the ability to compose professional correspondence and detailed reports.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply legal and regulatory documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and handle urgent or sensitive situations with professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and uphold Salem Health’s principles of quality and patient safety.
  • High attention to detail, especially in documentation, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with computer software and office equipment; comfort adopting new technologies and automated systems.
