The Recovery Village Salem is hiring to build a top-tier clinical team of Substance Abuse Counselors focused on supporting individuals on their recovery journey. Responsibilities- Provide daily group therapy to assigned patients following the approved substance use disorder and co-occurring program curricula.
- Ensure group attendance and engagement by delivering meaningful content.
- Use evidence-based interventions and de-escalation techniques to help patients achieve treatment goals and complete treatment.
- Assess patients for substance use disorders, risk to self or others, and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Support aftercare planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate understanding of Substance Use Disorders and Co-Occurring Mental Health Disorders.
- Identify areas for improvement within the department by reviewing data and developing plans for improvement and outcomes.
- Maintain positive relationships with all staff and participate in multidisciplinary treatment plan reviews.
- Maintain professional boundaries with patients and staff; accept feedback from supervisors.
- Provide a safe and therapeutic environment; communicate significant patient developments to supervisors.
- Participate in Quality Improvement activities and professional development to support organizational success.
- Complete required documentation in accordance with company policies, state regulations, Joint Commission standards, and Medical Needs Criteria, including:
Comprehensive Problem List, Integrated Master Treatment Plan and Updates, Group therapy notes, and Discharge Summary. - Contribute positively to staff morale and assist with discharge planning as part of the Master Treatment Plan.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Behavioral Health Field preferred
- High School Diploma required
Licensure/Certification
- State SUD certification required if education is equivalent to High School or Bachelor's level
- CADC I, II, or III
- QMHA or QMHP and willing to obtain a CADC
- CPR-AED and First Aid certification required
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of work experience in behavioral health field preferred
Knowledge and Training
- Proficiency in communication and written skills
- Knowledge of State & Federal statutes regarding patient confidentiality laws
- Knowledge of licensing and accreditation standards
- Understanding of addiction placement, continuing care, and discharge criteria, including ASAM criteria
