Play a key leadership role in ensuring the sterile processing team has the tools, training and support needed to deliver safe, high-quality patient care every day. As a sterile processing department (SPD) supervisor, you will guide daily operations by overseeing staff, coordinating schedules, resolving operational challenges and partnering with operating room teams to ensure instruments and equipment are available when needed.

Lead department education and competency development by onboarding new team members, coordinating continuing education and fostering a culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement. Manage instrument tracking systems, support equipment purchasing and repairs and monitor sterilization processes to maintain regulatory standards and operational excellence. This role offers the opportunity to mentor others, strengthen cross-department collaboration and make a meaningful impact on surgical outcomes by ensuring caregivers have reliable, properly processed instruments when they need them most.

• Assist the Sterile Processing Department manager with interviewing, hiring, performance evaluations, corrective actions and staff development.
• Lead daily department operations by serving as the floor supervisor, facilitating shift reports, resolving operational challenges and supporting leadership initiatives.
• Develop and deliver staff orientation, continuing education and certification support while maintaining education records and coordinating in-service training.
• Manage the instrument tracking system by maintaining count sheets, updating databases, coordinating system enhancements and generating operational reports.
• Coordinate instrument purchases, repairs, replacements and loaner instrumentation workflows to ensure clinical readiness.
• Promote regulatory compliance by monitoring sterilization processes, conducting quality assurance activities, supporting infection prevention efforts and ensuring adherence to industry standards.
• Develop and manage staff schedules, adjust daily staffing levels to meet operational needs and review timecards for accuracy.
• Partner with operating room teams and Sterile Processing staff to identify instrumentation needs, resolve issues and ensure surgical cases are fully supported.
• Communicate departmental updates, workflow changes and operational priorities while fostering collaboration across teams.
• Maintain a safe, efficient and high-performing department by coaching staff, solving problems and supporting continuous process improvement.

• Minimum of two years SPD Tech experience.

• Knowledge of Sterile Processing operations and instrument handling.
• Above average communication and interpersonal skills; ability to relate positively with others.
• Must have critical thinking and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
• Demonstrates self-motivation and acts on opportunities for professional self-improvement (e.g., solves problems independently, accepts extra assignments)
• Supports and initiates changes, innovations and improvements in the workplace.
