Job Summary

The Junior IT Systems Administrator provides technical support and maintenance for radiology clinical systems and IT infrastructure, including PACS, RIS, voice dictation systems, and diagnostic workstations. This entry-to-mid-level role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of clinical workflows by assisting with hardware/software troubleshooting, system updates, and user support, while working closely with senior IT staff and radiology personnel.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Support PACS, RIS, and voice recognition systems, ensuring availability and performance.
  • Respond promptly to IT support tickets from employees, including troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing computer systems, and addressing issues related to hardware, software and network connectivity.
  • Install, configure, and maintain software applications and operating systems, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
  • Setup, configure, and maintain all computers, workstations, servers, and necessary peripheral devices, file shares, group policy permissions and necessary applications for SRC Staff.
  • Assist with troubleshooting software, hardware, and network issues related to radiology systems.
  • Ensure employees are supported in utilizing Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams and other Microsoft 365 products.
  • Maintain accurate records of service requests, updates and resolutions.
  • Work closely with employees to enhance user experience and provide IT related guidance on using company resources for project management, task tracking and internal collaboration.
  • Coordinate with vendors for repairs, replacements and warranty claims, document best practices and procedures and recommend improvements.
  • Exercise judgment, initiative, and discretion in confidential and sensitive manners.
  • Analyze and report system issues and trends in a timely manner. Forward customer feedback received to leadership.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with end users, colleagues, and management to quickly resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide training in the operation and use of systems, computers, and peripheral equipment to SRC staff.
  • Review, adapt and translate technical documentation in a clear, meaningful way for non-technical staff and students.
  • Document technical procedures, system configurations, and support cases.
  • Maintain the confidential, proprietary nature of all information maintained on data systems and related to this position.
  • Collaborate with radiology staff and senior IT administrators to resolve clinical IT issues.
  • Direct unresolved issues/escalate to the next level of support personnel when required.
  • Participate in IT projects such as upgrades, migrations, and new technology rollouts.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational IT security policies.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems, networks, and IT protocols.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and software applications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Customer-oriented approach with a focus on delivering high-quality service and support.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Radiology Informatics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 1-2 years of experience in IT support, preferably in a healthcare or radiology setting.
  • Basic understanding of PACS/RIS systems, radiology workflows, and DICOM (preferred).
  • Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and desktop support.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and remote support tools (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional) preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting for 7-8 hours/day. Requires eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity.
  • Must be able to view computer screens for long periods.
