WhatYou Will Do
As the Accounting Supervisor, you will supervise the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cashier Desk teams. In this role, you are responsible for communicating the decisions on operational plans and strategic planning set forth by the Accounting Manager and Chief Financial Officer. You will supervise various technical teams that are responsible for performing financial functions, ensuring all aspects of hiring, supervising, training, mentoring, and feedback is adhered to.
This position coordinates daily activities to oversee the workload for the staff, and quality of the performance and work products to ensure the integrity of the agency’s fiscal program are accurate, timely, and in compliance. Additionally, this position also carries out the agency’s affirmative action, diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and responsibilities.

What We Are Looking For RequiredMinimum Qualifications
- Four years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR one year of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, Government Accounting Standards, and Oregon Accounting Manual, along with experience preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and overseeing month-end and year-end processes — preferably with the State of Oregon or another government entity.
- Proficient in the Statewide Financial Management System (SFMS) for the State of Oregon, or equivalent experience with SFMS, and advanced Excel skills, including macros, pivot tables, and automation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills – Ability to take complex financial data and identify trends or discrepancies.
- Leadership/supervision skills – Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff; effectively delegating tasks and balancing workloads; and experience contributing to the development of long-term goals, strategic fiscal planning and program evaluation.
- Excellent communication skills – Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with team members and management; translate financial information into simple, understandable terms for non-financial audiences.
- Compliance and control skills – Demonstrated experience implementing internal controls or ensuring established internal controls are being followed; and experience ensuring compliance with policies, Oregon Accounting Manual, and regulations.
- Exceptional attention to detail – Ability to identify missing or inaccurate financial information and verify staff work for accuracy when reviewing batches.
- Excellent time management skills – Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to ensure completion of critical responsibilities first, and to support team success by helping organize and prioritize workloads.
