The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an operational leader of a unit at the Oregon State Hospital, jointly accountable with the Nurse Manager to ensure that all day-to-day operations are successfully managed. This includes overall functioning of the unit, including patient care, safety, staffing, regulatory compliance, and other managerial duties. The Unit Administrator holds primary responsibility for administrative, operational, and milieu management functions of the unit and exercises broad authority over staff supervision, unit operations, and treatment delivery systems.

This position partners as an equal with the Nurse Manager, who holds primary responsibility for oversight of medical and nursing clinical care. This role also carries enterprise-level responsibility for business operations, including strategic resource allocation, performance metric oversight, workflow redesign, cross-functional coordination, and accountability for operational outcomes that directly support hospital-wide objectives, regulatory readiness, and continuous systems improvement.

This position functions within OSH as a program manager with responsibilities that include supervision and staffing, hospital safety and security, compliance with standards and regulations, policy and procedures development and implementation, program evaluation and improvement, and treatment delivery to patients.

What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience
  • OR
  • Two years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Desired Attributes:
  • Experience supervising unit operations and staff
  • Experience developing, revising, and implementing policies; ensures adherence to Joint Commission and CMS standards; conducts audits and chart reviews; manages corrective actions; and serves as Standards and Compliance liaison.
  • Experience managing unit workflows, transfers, treatment mall coordination, and critical incident response.
  • Experience analyzing performance metrics, auditing trends, safety data, and operational indicators to identify risks, improve efficiency, and drive quality improvement and process redesign initiatives.
  • Experience handling timekeeping, attendance, FMLA/OFLA, SAIF claims, investigations, grievance processes, and reports work performance concerns for interdisciplinary team members.
  • Experience in safety and incident management
  • Experience in fiscal and resource management.
  • Experience in training staff.
