Salary Range: $6,834 - $10,569

What will you do?You will direct, manage, supervise and provide technical expertise to the Water Quality and Monitoring Unit of the Forest Resources Division.
Duties include:
- Planning, leading, improving and implementing a statewide forest practices monitoring and evaluation program to measure the implementation and effectiveness of the Oregon Forest Practices Act in meeting its goals and objectives.
- Coordinating water quality monitoring activities within the department and among state and federal agencies, research scientists, forest landowners and other interests.
- Providing technical guidance and consultation on monitoring to forestry staff and field personnel, landowners and other interests.
- Serving as a technical adviser at the federal and state level about forest practice monitoring needs and methods.
- Recommending revisions to agency policy and procedures by evaluating their impact on program activities in order to increase effectiveness of program operations.
- Excellent communicator both oral and written, particularly in environments with diverse perspectives.
- Strong organization skills.
- Experience coordinating and planning projects.
- College-level training in biological or physical science.
- Ability to provide leadership to a high-functioning team that monitors the compliance and effectiveness of natural resource policies and rules.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and research methods.
- Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Interest and talent in developing, coaching and guiding staff.
- Ability to provide leadership in developing and implementing a program vision while operating with several business lines and maintain key relationships with internal and external customers.
- Proven experience as an excellent communicator who is honest, fair and inclusive among employees, partners and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of service, workforce diversity, equity and inclusion, team environment, and strong internal communication and alignment.
Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience, or two years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources.
Salary determinationPer the Pay Equity Law passed in 2017, a pay equity analysis for starting salary will be conducted to determine what pay step the successful candidate will be offered. The analysis will be based on the submitted materials and the time of application. No other documents will be accepted after submission of application.
