Overview
Industrial Paint Lead
Opti Staffing | West Salem, OR Area
Pay: $25-$35/hr doe
Schedule: Mon-Fri 6am-2:30pm
Opti Staffing is hiring an Industrial Paint Lead for a well-established machinery and heavy equipment manufacturer in the West Salem area. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for leading daily paint operations, maintaining quality and safety standards, and supporting production flow in a fast-paced industrial environment.
The ideal candidate is an experienced industrial painter who can lead by example
, mentor team members, and ensure high-quality finishes on complex machinery and components.
- Lead and support daily operations within the industrial paint department
- Assign work, prioritize jobs, and ensure production schedules are met
- Perform hands-on industrial painting of machinery, components, and assemblies
- Prepare surfaces through blasting, cleaning, masking, and priming
- Apply industrial coatings using airless, air-assist, and electrostatic spray systems
- Mix and apply coatings per manufacturer specifications, including proper mil thickness
- Inspect finished products for quality, coverage, adhesion, and finish consistency
- Troubleshoot paint defects and recommend corrective actions
- Train and mentor painters on proper techniques, safety practices, and quality standards
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and PPE requirements
- Maintain paint equipment, spray booths, and work areas
- Coordinate with supervisors, production, and quality teams to support workflow
- 4+ years of industrial painting experience (machinery, heavy equipment)
- Prior lead, foreman, or senior painter experience strongly preferred
- Experience painting machinery with complex geometries, tight tolerances, and “nooks and crannies”
- Knowledge of industrial coatings such as epoxies, urethanes, and zinc-rich primers (Carboline experience a plus)
- Familiarity with SP surface prep standards and paint mil thickness requirements
- Experience using airless, air-assist, and electrostatic spray equipment
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, specs, and paint procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
