Summary:

A Lighting Specialist provides our electrical contractor customers with lighting package quotations and project management services, striving to give a world-class customer service experience   from start to finish. A Lighting Specialist is expected to apply and develop their product knowledge, customer service skills, and their ability to build and maintain relationships with both customers and vendors on an ongoing basis.

A candidate with two or more years of experience in the lighting world will easily and immediately assume project management duties on current and upcoming projects for several customers. They will also be expected to assist (and ideally manage) quoting future projects--both large and small--for most of our customers. Candidates with no prior lighting experience will receive hands-on training on all aspects expected of a Lighting Specialist and be granted workload and opportunities at their own pace.

As the primary Lighting Specialist in Salem, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow our lighting department from the ground-up with excellent support from management, outside sales, inside sales, clerical, and purchasing team members along the way. Minimum Qualifications:

+ Excellent communication and customers service skills.

+ Excellent attention to detail.

+ Ability to stay organized and prioritize responsibilities that are most urgent.

+ Proficient in basic math skills and fluent in English.

+ Proficient in Office Suite (Word, Excel).

+ Entrepreneurial mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Prior experience in lighting quotations and project management

+ Prior experience working with (electrical) contractors

+ Prior experience in project management

Working Conditions:

This role will mostly involve an office setting which includes sitting or standing for several hours each day at a desktop computer station. It will also include working in our warehouse to a lesser degree, occasionally receiving material into our system and putting stock away, checking on-hand quantities, and other minor warehouse duties, including occasionally lifting 40lbs or more at a time.

This role will also require occasionally visiting contractors' offices and/or job sites as needed. Safety (PPE) equipment will be provided as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

QUOTATIONS:

+ Receive direction from customers to quote pre-designed lighting packages. Ask clarifying questions as needed.

+ Read plans and specifications to interpret engineers' and architects' requirements on projects.

+ Send project documents, customer supplemental information, and additional job notes to vendors in a timely manner, relaying and holding vendors accountable to bid deadlines.

+ Build lighting and lighting control quotation packages from vendor quotes in a timely manner, selecting the best package as a combination of price, availability, customer preference, and requirements of the project.

+ Calculate freight charges on lighting & control packages and price accordingly to customers.

+ Work with Purchasing, Outside Sales, and Inside Sales teams to determine best price, margin, and logistical practices.

+ Request customer feedback on pricing, timeliness, and other performance-based aspects.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

+ Relay and process submittal requests and forms to and from customers and vendors. Supplement submittal packages if needed.

+ Review returned submittals and work with vendors to take corrective actions.

+ Relay lead times, logistics, and installation instructions to customers prior to releasing packages.

+ Relay estimated and actual ship dates, tracking information, and contact information to customers and vendors as lighting packages are released.

+ Resolve issues, process Change Orders, and provide world-class customers service throughout a projects' timeline.
