OUR MISSION: MWVCAA invests in people and their futures to reduce the impacts of poverty.

The Volunteer Coordinator will oversee all aspects of agency volunteering, including volunteer recruitment, screening and orientation, onboarding, scheduling, tracking, planning and budgeting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), college coursework and a minimum of three years of previous experience with large-scale coordination of volunteers in a nonprofit organization.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS,
  • Driver qualifications are required for this position. Valid Oregon driver license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and a satisfactory drive record for the previous three years are required.
  • Successful registration with Child Care Division Criminal Background Registry and/or DHS Criminal Background Check.
  • CPR/AED/First-Aid certification within 30 days of hire. NARCAN administration training within 30 days of hire.
KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Effective oral and written communications skills, follow-through, planning and organizational scheduling skills. Computer proficiencies in MS Office, databases, volunteer tracking software or systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, staff, community-based organizations and the public to help develop collaborative services to meet client needs.
  • Ability to exercise appropriate independent judgment and communications to monitor tasks of others safely and respectfully.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

  • Develops and implements volunteer project guidelines, policies and procedures, monitors outcomes, and cultivates and retain community partners.
  • Establish and maintain volunteer descriptions, protocols, background check processes in cooperation with programs and HR staff.
  • Recruits and monitors volunteers, interns and practicum students during projects.
  • Establish and maintain volunteer database and schedules.
  • Creates and distributes flyers, posts updates on social media, and engages with the volunteers using Agency technologies.
  • Conducts volunteer orientation and assures all volunteers are trained for events, projects assigned.
  • Compile information for grant applications as needed. Prepares and submits reports to funding sources.
  • Develops and monitors the volunteer budget.
  • Carries out oversight responsibilities in accordance with the organization's volunteer policies and applicable laws.
  • Screening and onboarding volunteers; planning, assigning, addressing volunteer complaints and resolving problems, and escalating issues to management when necessary.
  • May be assigned other responsibilities that further the service project goals and objectives.

  • Consistent punctuality and reliable attendance are essential requirements for this role.
  • Ability to work effectively and maintain positive, professional relationships with team members and clients.
  • Exercises judgment in determining priority of day-to-day job tasks.
  • Requires basic problem solving, creative thinking, and resourcefulness to accomplish tasks as directed by a supervisor.
  • Ability to manage frequent interruptions and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not supervise Agency personnel.
