About The Job – Your RoleThe Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) seeks Registered Nurses who are passionate about caring for marginalized and underserved incarcerated individuals. The position is part‑time with flexible scheduling, a manageable patient load, and the opportunity to provide continuous, evidence‑based care without billing pressures. Candidates should be knowledgeable, motivated, empathetic, and committed to patient‑centered health care.
Primary Responsibilities- Direct Patient Care – assessment, diagnosis, planning, medication administration, laboratory/medical procedures, and treatment in accordance with ODOC policies and evidence‑based standards.
- Coordination of Care – schedule on‑site and community services to achieve optimal health outcomes.
- Communication – provide education and act as a resource for non‑medical staff regarding health care in the correctional setting; advocate for patient needs timely.
- Documentation – maintain accurate, legible records of all patient care activities, medical requests, and education provided.
- Administration – coordinate nursing care activities with other departments; manage unit operations in the absence of management staff; monitor medical supplies and narcotic inventory.

- Valid Oregon Registered Professional Nurse’s license at time of appointment.
- Preference for candidates with an unencumbered license.

Working Conditions- Work independently with little or no supervision.

- Potential exposure to chemicals, radiation, communicable diseases; occasional local or in‑state travel for training or meetings.
