Position: FT Psychiatric & Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate Psychiatric & Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team!

Clinical

Schedule:

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Coverage:
Facility operates 7 days per week.

Ideal Candidate Requirements
  • Flexibility to work 2 weekend days a month.
  • Participate in telephonic on‑call coverage.
  • Support a collaborative team dedicated to consistent, high‑quality patient care.
Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent medical care in line with ARS philosophy, establishing rapport, gathering data, assessing readiness for treatment, and applying diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders.
  • Screen for co‑occurring primary mental health issues.
  • Screen for substance use disorders, including toxicology, intoxication, and withdrawal.
  • Assess medication knowledge, complications, detoxification protocols, and prescribing medications.
  • Screen for danger to self or others using CSSRS and PHQ‑9, analyze data for treatment recommendations.
  • Screen for nutrition deficiencies and intervene or refer as appropriate.
  • Screen for pain and determine treatment strategies, considering risks of dependency.
  • Proficiency using the electronic health record (EHR) with required documentation:
    Psychiatric Evaluation, Physical Examination, Medical Progress Notes, Medical Discharge Summaries, Medication and ancillary orders, Allergies, Diagnosis updates, Laboratory data interpretation, HIV/STD results documentation.
  • Follow ASAM criteria and Medical Needs Criteria for decision making and treatment planning.
  • Provide on‑call coverage: maintain contact records and respond within one hour of facility.
Collaborative Tasks
  • Develop cost‑effective therapeutic service methods.
  • Assist in formulating and supporting high standards of patient care.
  • Review level‑of‑care changes and provide peer reviews.
  • Provide support to NP, PA, and students as required.
  • Adhere to safety/risk, infection control, and other guidelines.
  • If non‑exempt, clock in with ADP at designated times.
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties.
Qualifications
  • Graduated from an accredited Nursing Master’s Program with Family NP or higher and a Psychiatric NP degree.
  • Experience in Addiction Medicine/Primary Behavioral Health preferred.
  • Familiarity with JCAHO, ASAM criteria, and other healthcare standards preferred.
  • Apply continuous quality improvement and performance improvement strategies.
  • Strong communication skills; self‑motivated and confident.
  • Depending on state, may need a protocol agreement between NP and Medical Director.
  • Licensed Nurse with Master’s Degree or higher to practice as Family NP and Psychiatric NP in the state.
  • DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances; trained on Buprenorphine prescribing.
  • DEA‑authorized prescribers must have completed at least eight hours of educational training on opioid or other substance use disorder treatment.
  • Depending on state, protocol agreement may be required prior to DEA registration.
