American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Prep/Recovery (Phase II) position at a Level II Trauma Center in Oregon, requiring Epic proficiency and an active OR RN license.
Requirements- Active, unencumbered Oregon RN license — no pending licensure accepted
- Active OR RN license is required (as noted in the profession‑specific requirement)
- Current BLS (AHA) required
- Current ACLS (AHA) required
- PALS (AHA) required within 6 months of hire
- Minimum of 2 years of Prep/Recovery (Phase II) experience required
- Epic EMR experience required — no exceptions
- COVID vaccination required; no exemptions
- Proficiency in a wide range of perioperative skills including airway assessment, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, pain management, PCA pump management, malignant hyperthermia protocol, and anesthesia types (general, spinal, MAC, nerve blocks, epidural)
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, medication administration (vasopressors, anticoagulants, reversal agents, narcotics), and pre/post‑op patient care
- Inpatient and ambulatory/outpatient setting at a Level II Trauma Center
- Unit focus is Prep/Recovery (Phase II/Stage 2 recovery), with coverage across the continuum of surgical services including Pre‑Surgical Screening, OR, Endoscopy, and PACU
- Broad surgical case mix including cardiac, bariatric, neuro/spine, ortho, vascular, plastics, urology, thoracic, transplant, robotics, and more
- Pediatric patient management is part of the role
- 4x10‑hour day shifts with start times ranging from 0530–0900 (start times may vary with prior notification)
- No weekends, no holidays, and no on‑call responsibilities
- Floating to a nearby affiliate hospital (approximately 15 minutes away) may be required; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
- Epic EMR — experience is required with no exceptions
- 13‑week contract minimum
- Responsibilities include pre‑op assessment and education, medication reconciliation, obtaining operative consent, Phase II recovery care, discharge instructions, and pre/post procedures for cath lab, endoscopy, and IR
- CAPA certification is preferred for Prep/Recovery and Pre‑Surgical Screening roles
- First‑time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rates — no radius restriction
- All requested time off (RTO) must be finalized prior to consideration and cannot be changed after submission; additional RTO requests may result in removal from consideration or contract cancellation
- Former permanent employees of Salem Health must have been separated for at least 6 months before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Pre‑start online modules (up to 8 hours, non‑paid) are required and vary by specialty
- Travel pairs must be disclosed at the time of submission
