Schedule:

7:00 pm - 7:30 am, three 12-hour shifts, variable scheduled days

The medical surgical unit provides care to a highly diverse population with diagnoses of heart failure, sepsis, renal failure, respiratory failure, COVID and patients with multiple co-morbidities. Patients have multiple medical diagnoses offering a variety of healthcare experiences for nurses. Medical Nurses develop a well-rounded knowledge base and are able to care for a wide range of different patients. The wide range of diagnoses coupled with the Care in Place model makes for a highly satisfying specialty.

Nurses have the experience of caring for patients holistically and interact with multiple disciplines to navigate their patients through the hospital stay.

• Perform accurate, ongoing, and relevant assessments for each assigned patient.
• Deliver patient care competently in alignment with individualized care plans.
• Plan and coordinate patient transfers or discharges to the appropriate level of care.
• Collaborate proactively with the healthcare team and patient families.
• Document assessments, care plans, interventions, and patient responses clearly and accurately.
• Anticipate patient needs and communicate effectively with team members.

• Requires a Bachelor of Science (BSN) or Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing, or non‑nursing bachelor’s degree with a Master of Science in nursing (MSN).Candidates with an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or graduate of a diploma RN program are also encouraged to apply;
  
  ADN applicants with less than five years of acute care experience will be required to sign an agreement committing to complete their BSN or MSN degree within three years of hire.
• Unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• One year of RN staff nurse experience.
