Location: Salem Health Cancer Center, 875 Oak Street SE, Salem, OR 97301

Department: Oncology - Advanced Wound Care

Position Type: Part Time, 32 hours/week, Exempt

Schedule: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Tuesday–Friday

Advanced Wound Care Nurse Practitioner in our Oncology department focused on healing and compassionate care for patients with chronic wounds.

• Perform comprehensive, age-appropriate patient assessments, incorporating medical history, social and cultural factors, and evaluating education needs for patients and families.
• Deliver skilled nursing interventions based on individualized care plans, prioritizing patient needs and proactively preventing complications.
• Develop and adjust care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team, accounting for rehabilitation potential and discharge planning.
• Accurately document patient care including assessments, interventions, education, and outcomes to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Communicate effectively to ensure clear, timely, and complete information sharing among team members.
• Demonstrate leadership and collaboration by participating in shared decision-making, mentoring staff, and taking on the charge nurse role as needed.
• Maintain a safe care environment by following infection control and safety protocols while managing supplies and supporting resource efficiency.

• Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Associate program (or predecessors).
• National certifying examination passed and certified by NCCPA.
• Current Physician Associate license in good standing from the Oregon Medical Board.
• DEA certification.
• Master’s degree or higher in Nursing or equivalent as recognized by the Oregon Board of Nursing.
• Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program recognized by the Oregon Board of Nursing.
• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Oregon.
• Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner (ANCC, NCC, or equivalent) or actively pursuing certification with a plan to obtain it within 24 months of privileges at Salem Hospital.
• At least 12 months of Advanced Wound Care Nurse Practitioner experience within the past three years (required).

• Certified Wound Care Nurse preferred
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
• Monitoring plan may be required if current competency is not documented
• Knowledge of Lean methodology preferred
