Job Title:

Quality Control Technician

Job Description

The Quality Control Technician supports reliable production by performing laboratory testing, maintaining quality systems, and collaborating with production teams to ensure products meet defined standards. This role involves analyzing raw materials and finished products, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

+ Obtain and manage laboratory supplies to support ongoing testing activities.

+ Calibrate and verify quality assurance equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

+ Analyze production and raw material samples for physical and chemical properties using established testing methods.

+ Investigate quality and production issues, including customer complaints, as directed by supervision.

+ Prepare, label, and package samples for internal departments and external customers in an accurate and timely manner.

+ Maintain accurate, organized, and timely quality and production records using computerized systems.

+ Support compliance with ISO 9001 quality system requirements and assist with documentation and internal audits.

+ Ensure adherence to company procedures, safety standards, and applicable government regulations during all activities.

+ Recommend improvements to processes, equipment usage, and working conditions to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.

+ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support ad hoc quality-related projects as assigned.

+ Collaborate closely with production teams to support consistent product quality and process optimization.

+ Troubleshoot basic mechanical or process issues related to quality testing or measurement tools, escalating when needed.

Essential Skills

+ Previous experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or quality control environment, or holding a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

+ High School Diploma or GED as a minimum educational requirement.

+ Preferred two (2) years of experience in manufacturing or laboratory environments.

+ Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and standard testing procedures.

+

Experience with quality control and quality assurance practices.

+ Ability to accurately document, organize, and analyze data using computerized systems and data entry tools.

+ Proficiency with basic computer systems, including data entry and recordkeeping software.

+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple samples and records.

+ Strong communication skills, including the ability to articulate clearly under pressure.

+ Effective problem-solving skills to investigate quality issues and support root-cause analysis.

+ Ability to use measuring tools and basic mechanical aptitude to support testing and equipment checks.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline is highly valued, especially for recent graduates.

+ Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards or other quality management systems.

+ Experience working with quality systems in a manufacturing or laboratory setting.

+ Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with production and quality teams.

+ Comfort working in environments that require troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

+ Interest in building a long-term career in quality control, quality assurance, or laboratory operations.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in a laboratory environment with regular exposure to chemicals, where appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. The role may involve occasional work in production areas with moderate to high noise levels. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and to perform physical activities such as walking, bending, reaching, and climbing stairs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salem, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
