The RoleJoin our team and help ensure top quality construction across Oregon. In this role, you’ll coordinate solutions for complex material issues in the field and determine how they should be resolved. You’ll work closely with ODOT’s Quality Assurance team and contractor testing personnel, reviewing test results and making key decisions that support the integrity of every project.

A Day In The Life- Interpret roadway and bridge contract plans and specifications to ensure construction compliance.
- Verify quality of field‑tested construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt.
- Attend/facilitate key project meetings (pre‑bid, preconstruction, pre‑crush, pre‑paving, etc.) to maintain statewide consistency.
- Inspect and document materials and construction methods. Coordinate with project managers and contractors.
- Suspend non‑compliant work, reject non‑specification materials, and communicate actions to project staff.
- Oversee and coordinate all contractor split samples and confirm proper sampling, testing and technician certifications.
- Resolve discrepancies between contractor quality control and ODOT quality assurance test results.
- Provide technical guidance on testing procedures, troubleshooting mix designs and ensuring program compliance.
- Prepare and review material test summaries, verify results, authorize payments and support change order documentation.
- Train staff, maintain certifications, ensure safe work practices, and maintain positive, professional working relationships.
- At least 50% of the work is performed outdoors and requires working in inclement weather, close to highway traffic or construction equipment and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Requires lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, moving around uneven terrain, overnight travel, working long hours and being on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays.
- Obtain and keep the following certifications: CAgT, CEBT, CDT, CAT-I, and QCT

- The salary range listed is the non-PERS monthly salary range. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6%.
