** The Office of the State Court Administrator (OSCA) within the Oregon Judicial Department (OJD) oversees Oregon's statewide, state-funded court system. OSCA promotes efficient, statewide improvement and supports local courts in responding to community and statewide needs.

OSCA’s new Office of the Ombudsman ensures public trust and confidence in the court system by providing a rule-based standardized process for the public to submit concerns about their experience in a court proceeding. The Office of the Ombudsman reviews submitted concerns and takes action as needed to resolve concerns.

** Position Highlights
** We are hiring an
** Ombuds Research Analyst** (Analyst
3) to join our team in Salem,  this role, you will maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all aspects of your work. You will research, analyze, and verify information in response to concerns that customers submit to the Office of the Ombudsman about their court experiences. If, based on the rules of procedure, you determine that a submitted concern is actionable, you will work closely with the Ombudsman to develop the scope and plan for research, including identifying potential witnesses and additional information needed.

If you determine that a concern is clearly outside the scope of the office, you will document the analysis and use your emotional intelligence to patiently and kindly communicate the outcome to the customer.

For actionable concerns, you will review and validate information found in court records, recordings, witness statements, and other documents and will conduct in-person, phone, and remote fact-finding interviews with customers, witnesses, and employees. To help ensure that concerns are tracked consistently, you will update records within the office’s case management system in a timely and accurate fashion. You will use objective and unbiased reasoning in your investigations and ensure thorough documentation of all analyses, actions, and recommendations.

You will also create research summaries and written reports in accordance with OJD rules and standards, which you will submit to the Ombudsman for evaluation and determination of appropriate next steps.

You will participate in training to stay current on court procedures, relevant laws, and best practices for conducting fair, neutral, and complete interviews. You will also recommend process improvements and help refine the office’s research procedures.

All assigned duties will be accomplished using established guidelines and procedures and as directed by management. Assigned duties may change to accommodate workload and organizational needs.
