Pay and Commission
$16.50 to $19.00 per hour. Earn up to 8% on each transaction, which could average an additional $3.45 per hour on top of the hourly rate.

Reports to: Store Manager

Position Summary

An entry‑level sales associate in our pawn store locations nationwide. The associate partners with the entire staff to ensure customer service on both the lending and retail sides of the business, greets, engages, and interacts with customers in a positive and professional manner to process sales and loan activity, and assists with inquiries and problem resolution. Associates handle inventory placement and work with all levels of jewelry and general merchandise, as well as all financial solutions offered to customers.

General

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greet and interact with all customers to develop rapport and recommend appropriate financial solutions.
  • Perform non‑management open/close procedures.
  • Keep sales floor clean, stocked, and maintain display of merchandise.
  • Perform sales and loan transactions in accordance with established policies, procedures, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Handle all cash and negotiable items in accordance with established policies.
  • Independently receive, evaluate, lift, carry, move, and secure customer merchandise as part of pawn, buy, and retail transactions.
  • Answer incoming calls per company standards.
  • Effectively communicate the legal aspects of pawn and buy transactions to customers.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and managers, displaying respect and using effective communication tools.
  • Partner with all employees to create a positive and memorable customer experience and work environment.
  • Successfully complete assigned training.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 18 years of age (21 in Washington).
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Strong desire to serve customers and work with people, team oriented.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations proficiently.
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of jewelry and general merchandise preferred.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, non‑verbal, and active listening.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent work ethic and strong business sense.
  • May need to work in multiple locations.
  • Must be able to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
  • Computer literate and able to operate common office machines.
  • Ability to work with firearms as needed.
Work Location

Primarily indoors. Employees may be asked to assist customers on the exterior of the building or retrieve products from exterior storage areas.

Work Postures and Requirements
  • Standing/Walking – Frequently during shifts assisting customers at the sales counter or on the floor, and performing inventory and operational tasks.
  • Sitting – Occasionally to complete sales documentation, reporting, and other administrative tasks.
  • Bending – Frequently.
  • Reaching – Frequently to retrieve merchandise.
  • Climbing – Frequently to access elevated storage locations in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Kneeling – Occasionally.
Physical Demands and Requirements
  • Lifting/Carrying – Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, sometimes up to 70 pounds, during customer transactions and store operations.
  • Tool Usage – Jeweler’s tools or other power tools used occasionally.
  • Chemicals – Occasional.
Definitions

Occasional = up to 20% of time
Frequent = 20% to 75% of time
Continuous = 75% or more of time
