Position: Senior Retail Merchandiser - Salem, OR

L&R is the largest distributor and the 6th largest purchaser of cosmetics in the United States. We now distribute over 40,000 items (cosmetics, toys, school supplies, hosiery, hair accessories, OTC, HBA, and more) through 3 regional warehouse locations in Arkansas, New Jersey, and Nevada.

We are looking for a part‑time to full‑time representative to service retail stores such as but not limited to Albertsons and Kroger in various locations within the West, Central, and East Coast regions of the country.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The Senior Field Merchandiser is an extension of the District Manager providing oversight and support to the field team in their district that oversees merchandising execution across multiple retail locations, ensuring products are stocked, displayed, and maintained to company standards. This role serves as a resource for interviewing, hiring and training new field merchandisers, while auditing and coaching existing field merchandisers to ensure company standards are met by the team.

Additionally, this role provides advanced merchandising support and leads complex resets when necessary.

LOCATIONS & SCHEDULE

Territories – Salem, OR

Hours – Full Time – 40 hours weekly

Occasional travel to additional territories, up to 100+ miles radius when coverage is needed.

Store service hours are between 6 AM – 5 PM with 8 PM as the drop‑dead time with authorization.

Compensation/Benefits

Pay Rate – 23.00 per hour

Mileage and tolls reimbursement.

Meal reimbursement (up to manager's discretion).

Paid drive time included with hours worked.

Part‑time benefits include state sick time and 401(k) options.

This position is likely to transition to full‑time after 60 days if consistent 30+ hours are met weekly.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Accurately implement planograms and schematics to reset cosmetic displays, fixtures, and sections according to provided planograms and instructions.
  • Ensure all resets are completed according to L&R’s standards and project timelines.
  • Work with District Manager to interview and hire field merchandisers as needed.
  • Provide in‑store training for new hires and ongoing training for current workforce as needed, applying current knowledge of service tools, processes, and KPIs.
  • Provide dependable support as the district’s “go‑to” resource for store coverage, executive walks, and remodels.
  • Service open store routes according to the assigned call cycle frequencies, working closely with the L&R District Manager to drive execution excellence for our Customers’ Customers.
  • Place orders for required inventory according to store ordering guidelines, utilizing a company‑supplied tablet with Repsly software. This may require Auto Ordering where applicable, and performing inventory or cycle counts when necessary.
  • Develop strong, reputable relationships through consistent professional communication with Store Management and Store Associates.
  • Verify merchandise shipments upon receipt, and ensure items are checked in by authorized store personnel.
  • Stock shelves with delivered merchandise, work back‑stock when necessary, clean and organize display cases and shelves as needed.
  • Conduct store surveys and audits per request, including but not limited to taking photographs of assigned departments to solve store issues.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Must have 2–3 years of experience in retail merchandising, resets, or a related field (preferred).
  • Extensive experience with planograms, resets knowledge, and execution.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor.
  • Proficient with tablets and smartphones.
