Overview
As an Asphalt Sales Representative you are responsible to bid/quote asphalt products for public and private sector projects, establish and maintain customer relations and promote the use of asphalt products in the markets we serve.
Duties and/or Responsibilities- Build relationships with new customers and maintain good relationships with existing customers.
- Product knowledge demonstrated through value added sales, trade shows, association meetings and events, customer questions, product quality resolution. Ability to identify best product for customer needs.
- Prepare quotes/bids for projects, relay pricing to customers, and maintain contact with all stakeholders.
- Follow through with customer satisfaction on jobs awarded. Monitor product quality during delivery and installation.
- Continue expanding markets and customer base while securing new job leads.
- Through project reporting periodicals, permit-issuing agencies, trade associations and customer involvement, develop leads for future projects.
- Visit job sites and customers to check on progress and address any concerns as they arise.
- Maintain ongoing communication with plant supervisors, dispatch and managers.
- Maintain awareness of company Quality Control goals and objectives, company sales policies and procedures, changes in the marketplace, pricing, policies, quality, service and credit terms.
- Edit asphalt tickets to ensure correct pricing daily.
- Maintain organized bid log and record of all quotes.
- Work with asphalt coordinator to ensure accurate pricing/invoicing and help with collections efforts.
- Report customer concerns/complaints to Sales, Operations, Quality Control, Accounting staff to resolve customer issues.
- Assist with employee accident/injury reporting/process. Escort employee to doctor or for drug testing as needed.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
- Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
- Perform other duties assigned.
- 2 years from post high school, military, institutional or vocational environment.
- 2 years sales experience.
- 5 plus years aggregate, concrete, asphalt or construction related experience preferred.
