The Food Fanatics Chef partners with area leadership, sales and support teams to build value and grow customer relationships and drives profitable sales growth. They serve as consultants and culinary experts to drive customer business success; lead product and sales training as appropriate, drive engagement and participation in strategic growth initiatives, and share the knowledge gained through the Food Fanatics program, events and team of chefs to benefit the area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Customer Consultants and Innovative Partnership:
    Direct customer consultation and relationship building is a critical element of the role. This involves seeking new business with consistent and meaningful connection to the New Business Manager, sales, and sales leadership functions.
  • Involvement in local restaurant community:
    Cultivating relationships and seeking opportunities within the local restaurant scene and through local and national organizations or groups is essential for growth efforts.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with US Foods customers:
    Ask questions, identify pain points, and offer mutually beneficial solutions. Relationships are built over time and require strong communication practice to close the loop with clients.
  • Advance the food culture of the organization:
    Utilize existing sales and training materials, develop new content as needed, and collaborate with the appropriate program office, excellence team, and Regional Culinary Managers. Drive education, inspiration and adoption of exclusive products and offerings.
  • Demonstrate excellence in culinary demonstration:
    Teach, connect and inspire to instill confidence and excitement among US Foods customers.
  • Identify culinary trends and industry conditions:
    Recognize opportunities to spur sales growth, then communicate them to local leadership or Regional Culinary Manager.
  • Lead the culinary vision:
    Bring together the team, participate, and oversee all food components at sales meetings and other events, focusing on creating a food‑driven culture. Develop complex, dynamic presentations or activities that embody this culture.
  • Coordinate and execute events, product launches, sales conferences, and general sales meetings with the area team.
  • Build and conduct kitchen/operations assessments for customers and teams, developing action plans for short‑ and long‑term opportunities.
  • Utilize Menu Profit Pro to enrich the customer experience with customized, costed recipes. Conduct introductory conversations about Check Business Tools and collaborate with Restaurant Operations Consultant partners.
  • Engage and collaborate effectively in a team‑based selling approach, consistently using the Sous tool to support communication.
  • Merchandising Connectivity:
    Support commercial excellence team initiatives around product mix, provide insight and training to sales, and work with Regional Culinary Manager to craft local and regional training.
  • Exclusive Brands Growth:
    Contribute to sales growth for the division and national customers, focusing on Exclusive Brands. Engage in onsite operations assessments, present culinary initiatives in the division test kitchen, and collaborate with area and regional leaders.
  • Support the Food Fanatics Program:
    Participate in local, virtual, and national events; collaborate with peers enterprise‑wide; employ best practices to expand the program’s reach.
  • Provide contributions, feedback, and ideas to the program, working toward continuous improvement guided by Regional Culinary Managers.
  • Utilize social media, live broadcast, and print media to increase recognition of the program and its goals.
  • Supervision:
    May supervise a Part‑Time Market SOUS Chef.
  • Relationships:
    Internally with Sales, Merchandising, Marketing, and other Market Leaders; externally with chefs and other customers.
  • Work Environment:
    Perform duties in a kitchen environment either at the Distribution Center or a customer location.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor messages to the appropriate audience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
