Hiring two seasonal positions with anticipated durations of July 27, 2026 – October 31, 2026 (estimated dates may vary based on project needs).
As a Columbia River Fishery Sampler (Biological Science Assistant) for the Ocean Salmon & Columbia River Program (OSCRP) in Astoria, Oregon, you will be responsible for data collection and monitoring activities on the lower Columbia River.
Responsibilities- Collect catch and effort data from recreational fisheries on the lower Columbia River.
- Collect information on commercial fisheries.
- Participate in commercial fishery monitoring, test fishing, hatchery sampling, coded‑wire tag recovery, and tagging projects.
- Experience collecting and recording data.
- Experience collecting biological samples.
- Experience identifying adult fish species, particularly salmonids.
- Field survey experience.
- Boating experience.
- Currently pursuing or holding a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related biological/ecological sciences degree.
This position requires a Boater Education Certificate obtained through the Oregon State Marine Board within the first 30 days of appointment.
