As a Dispatcher at Salem Health, you’ll be central to safety and security operations, supporting a positive, secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff through strong cross‑department communication. In this vital role, you collaborate closely with field officers, clinical teams, and internal partners, serving as the communication hub that ensures critical information is shared clearly, accurately, and in real time. By coordinating across departments, proactively mitigating risks, and enabling swift, unified responses, you help safeguard Salem Health’s people, property, and operations.

- Manage and prioritize incoming communications via radio, phone, email, and fax to ensure timely, accurate responses to safety and service needs, keeping field officers informed to support rapid, coordinated action.
- Assist patients, visitors, and staff with parking information, lost and found, badge access, and safety alerts to promote a welcoming, efficient, and secure hospital experience.
- Process and vet badge requests for employees, contractors, vendors, volunteers, and students to maintain appropriate access levels and uphold hospital security standards.
- Enter security information accurately into reporting systems and organize records according to departmental procedures to support compliance, reporting integrity, and effective decision‑making.
- Monitor video surveillance and respond to alarms—including infant abduction prevention, intrusion detection, and duress systems—to identify risks early and protect patients, staff, and property.
- High school or equivalent.
- DPSST unarmed certification preferred or obtained within one month of hire.
- NIMS HICS 100, 200 and 700 on‑line certificates obtained within one year of hire.
- The ideal candidate will bring experience in one or more of the following areas: security, law enforcement, military, customer service, or call center environments.
- Proficiency in typing with a high level of accuracy (minimum 40 WPM).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively, especially in high‑pressure or time‑sensitive situations.
