Correctional Corporal (OSP)
OverviewAs a Correctional Corporal, you will serve as a key member of the security team, providing custody, control, supervision, and daily care of adults in custody (AICs). You will supervise AICs in housing units, control points, program and work assignments, and designated security areas. Enforcing institutional rules, maintaining order, and responding to emergencies and critical incidents with professionalism and sound judgment are essential aspects of the role.
You will also assist in training and mentoring staff.
- One (1) year of experience in a correctional security setting where primary duties involved care and custody of AICs.
- Obtain, within two weeks of hire, an Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Correctional Certificate or an equivalent Correctional Certificate from another government agency.
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED certificate.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Be a United States citizen.
- Education will not be accepted as a substitute for the required experience.
- Ability to obtain a valid Oregon motor vehicle operator's license.
- Applicants interested in job rotation opportunities must attach written approval from their current supervisor at the time of application.
- Salary range: $6,574 - $7,785 (non-PERS qualifying applicants).
- PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range reflecting an additional 6.95%.
