Job OverviewAs a Correctional Corporal, you will serve as a key member of our security team, providing custody, control, supervision, and daily care of adults in custody (AICs). Your role helps uphold the Department’s mission by maintaining a safe, secure, and rehabilitative environment for staff and residents.
Responsibilities- Supervise AICs in housing units, control points, program and work assignments, and designated security areas.
- Maintain order and enforce institutional rules.
- Respond to emergencies and critical incidents with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Assist in training and mentoring staff.
- One (1) year of experience in a correctional security setting where your primary duties involved the care and custody of AICs.
- Be able to obtain, within two weeks, an Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Correctional Certificate or a Correctional Certificate from another government agency.
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED certificate.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- United States Citizen.
Ability to obtain a valid Oregon motor vehicle operator’s license.

The successful candidate must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, certain felony convictions may disqualify an applicant. CJIS clearance is obtained at conditional job offer.
