Job Description
The Director of Security will plan, organize, manage, and control activities of the Security department at the Oregon State Hospital on both campuses, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on security issues.
- Represent OSH in communication and collaboration with local law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
- Provide overall management and oversight of the Security department across both campuses, ensuring trauma‑informed and culturally appropriate services.
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies to ensure cooperation and coordination of security activities.
- Conduct inspections, write reports, and oversee surveillance and access systems.
- Develop and implement hospital‑wide security policies and procedures.
- Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and manage security staff, ensuring equitable practices.
- Maintain staffing levels and develop training programs.
- Seven years of supervisory, management, or progressively related experience; or four years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree.
- Experience directing security teams with a focus on inclusive, equitable, trauma‑informed workplace culture.
- Strong executive‑level writing and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of compliance with local, federal regulations, The Joint Commission and CMS.
- Root cause analysis and incident evaluation expertise.
- Experience in locked facility security services.
