Job OverviewThe Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is recruiting Agriculture Services Laborer positions at the Hermiston Shipping Point District. These roles support the department’s mission to protect Oregon’s agriculture, natural resources, working lands, economies, and communities through assistance, compliance, and market support.

Responsibilities- Inspect, sort, and grade commodities in a warehouse or processing plant to assist customers in moving agricultural products.
- Assist with other Agriculture Services Division or agency activities, including field inspections, sample processing, and surveys for exotic insects or pathogens.
- Maintain accurate written records of inspection activities and fee collections.
- Adhere to established protocols, safety standards, and ethical conduct when representing the agency.
- At least 18 years of age at time of hire.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to regularly lift objects 50–60 lbs.
- Knowledge of agriculture, horticulture, plant pathology, agronomy, or related experience.
- Experience with inspection, laboratory testing, and/or plant disease identification.
- Knowledge of arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to obtain or provide information.
- Adherence to established protocols, safety standards, and ethical conduct.
