Job Title: Agriculture Services Laborer
Location: Hermiston Shipping Point District, Hermiston, OR
Salary Range: $3,515 - $4,124 per month
Position Type: Employee (Seasonal Part‑Time)
OverviewThe Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is seeking multiple Agriculture Services Laborers to support the department’s mission of safeguarding Oregon’s agriculture, natural resources, working lands, economies, and communities through assistance, compliance, and market support.
Responsibilities- Sort and grade agricultural commodities in a warehouse or processing plant.
- Assist customers in moving products for shipping.
- Provide additional support to the Agriculture Services Division or agency activities as needed, including field inspections, sample processing, surveys for exotic insects or pathogens, and other duties.
- Collate and maintain accurate written records of inspection activities and fee collections.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to regularly lift 50‑60 lbs.
- Knowledge of agriculture, horticulture, plant pathology, agronomy, or related experience.
- Experience with inspection, laboratory testing, or plant disease identification.
- Basic arithmetic skills.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Adherence to established protocols, safety standards, and ethical conduct.
