Position Overview
The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is recruiting for an Agriculture Services Inspector 1 position in the Hood River, Oregon Shipping Point Inspection district. This seasonal, part‑time role will provide agricultural inspections, sample collection, and field inspections to support the local agricultural community.
Responsibilities- Provide shipping point inspections and phytosanitary inspections.
- Conduct official sampling and witnessing.
- Support export of Oregon agricultural commodities by issuing phytosanitary certificates.
- Perform field inspections, sample processing, surveys for exotic insects or pathogens, and other duties as assigned.
- One season of experience as a shipping point inspector aide.
- One year of experience in a commercial fruit or vegetable growing, grading, or marketing enterprise.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to live within 30 miles of Milton‑Freewater, OR.
- Ability to regularly lift 50–60 lbs.
- General knowledge of Oregon agriculture and inspection.
- Basic arithmetic skills.
- Accurate written record keeping of inspection activities and fee collections.
- Effective oral and written communication with a variety of stakeholders.

- Anticipated start date:
July 1, 2026.
- Resume required and indicate willingness to relocate if not currently living in the Milton‑Freewater area.
