Refrigeration Start-up Technician

Cool Sys is seeking a Refrigeration Start-Up Technician to commission and optimize commercial and industrial HVAC-R systems. In this hands-on Technical & Maintenance role, you will perform start-up, testing, charging, and verification of new refrigeration and HVAC equipment, diagnose performance issues, and ensure compliance with safety, electrical, and mechanical standards. You'll interpret schematics, program controls, document system performance, and collaborate with project managers and installers.

Responsibilities

• Perform start-up and commissioning of commercial and industrial refrigeration and HVAC systems
• Conduct equipment testing, charging, evacuation, and system performance verification
• Diagnose and resolve start-up and performance issues on refrigeration and HVAC-R equipment
• Interpret mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration schematics and blueprints
• Configure and verify control systems, setpoints, and safety devices
• Ensure all work meets safety, electrical, mechanical, and code requirements
• Document start-up procedures, readings, and system performance for project records
• Collaborate with installers, project managers, and service teams to deliver quality installations
• Provide customer walk-throughs on system operation and basic maintenance
• Promote a safety-first culture and participate in ongoing technical training
