This is a limited‑duration position scheduled to end on 6/30/2026. The position is expected to continue beyond this date; however, a revised end date has not yet been established. Limited Duration Employees are eligible for benefits.

We are currently seeking to fill a Temporary Lodging Assistant (Social Service Assistant) to join our Child Welfare team in the Ontario office. Imagine using your social work skills to help families strengthen their bonds and create positive shared experiences. As a Temporary Lodging Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting family reunification and healing—one visit at a time. With each day bringing new challenges and opportunities, your adaptability, empathy, and trauma‑informed approach will be valued and essential.

Summary of Duties
  • Provide 24/7 supervision of the child throughout the day or overnight in temporary lodging and transport them to different destinations as needed.
  • When not in temporary lodging you will support in‑home safety plans by providing detailed documentation, support, engagement, and promptly reporting any concerns.
  • Transport children as needed for appointments, school, or any other needs as directed by caseworker, supervisor. Transportation may include inter‑ or intrastate as well as medical/dental appointments.
  • Maintain care for children related to hygiene, basic needs, school attendance, appointments, and transportation.
  • Maintain a work environment that respects, understands, and honors the lived experiences of our clients, colleagues, and the communities we serve.
  • Prepare notes for court testimony and keep accurate observation and supervision notes and document at all times.
  • Your primary work location will be in the Ontario branch.
Minimum Qualifications
  • One year of experience working in a human services or behavioral health setting; OR
  • An associate degree in any field; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Attributes
  • Experience collaborating with team members and working independently, ensuring seamless care for children and families while managing time efficiently.
  • Experience to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with accuracy, conciseness, and minimal spelling or grammar errors.
  • Experience with adjusting seamlessly to changing environments and shifting priorities daily.
  • Experience in supporting individuals with trauma, using trauma‑informed approaches to reduce and de‑escalate aggressive or hostile behavior while maintaining a safe, supportive environment.
  • Experience with making emergency decisions about immediate child safety.
Working Conditions
  • This is an in‑person position. Your primary work location will be in the Ontario branch.
  • Your work will be conducted in offices, participant's homes, in hotels, hospitals, in the field and other community sites.
  • There is no fixed 8‑hour workday. When there are no Temporary Lodging responsibilities, the schedule typically follows the standard 9 AM to 6 PM. The employee will generally work Monday through Friday, with core hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. However, work hours may vary depending on service needs, and flexibility is a condition of employment.
