Job DescriptionThe role is part-time, located in Medford. Part of the Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV) in the Field Services Group / South Region. Assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles, issuing permits and license plates, administering knowledge, skill and vision tests, ensuring correct fees are collected, providing information about regulations and policies, and administering behind-the-wheel drive tests.
Training provided for decisions using vehicle laws, agency policies and regulations. Salary prorated for part-time hours. Benefits prorated. Training 40 hours per week, then scheduled 30 hours per week; additional hours may be scheduled.
- Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits.
- Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
- Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions.
- Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards.
- Administer, correct and explain driver license tests.
- Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
- Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory.
- Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
- May require standing for extended periods, working in inclement weather, an irregular schedule and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Must type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy. A typing assessment conducted at interview for selected candidates.

- Salary range is non-PERS monthly; increase by 6.95% if participating or eligible for PERS.

- Two years of public contact/customer service experience involving dealing with the public in person or by phone, providing information about services/programs, explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures.
- Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
- Three months of experience collecting money and making change.
- Completion of an associate’s degree substitutes for one year of public contact experience.
Driving is an essential function. Must have a valid U.S. driver license and an acceptable driving record. Pre-employment driving record checks will be conducted.
