Role OverviewBring your customer service skills to the Hermiston DMV as a bilingual transportation services representative. In this role you will assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles, issuing permits and license plates, administering knowledge, skill and vision tests to potential drivers, ensuring correct fees are collected, providing information about regulations and policies, and administering behind‑the‑wheel drive tests.
Responsibilities- Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits.
- Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
- Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions.
- Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards.
- Administer, correct and explain driver license tests.
- Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
- Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory.
- Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
- Stand for extended periods, work in inclement weather, work an irregular schedule and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy. A typing assessment will be conducted at the time of interview for selected candidates.

- Two years of public contact/customer service experience dealing with the public in person or by phone.
- Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
- Three months experience collecting money and making change.
- Completion of an associate’s degree substitutes one year of the public contact experience.
Driving is an essential function. A valid U.S. driver license and an acceptable driving record are required. A pre‑employment driving record check will be conducted on final candidates.

- Experience handling multiple assignments and frequent interruptions.
