- Scope of Position:
The Warehouse Attendant is responsible for the organization of the warehouse in
preparation for the distribution of food directly to clients. This position
shall organize and stock food and other items from stores, agencies, and
distributors, often utilizing a hydraulic forklift. This position is
responsible for keeping the warehouse clean, organized, and inventoried. In
addition, the position is responsible for working with the Family Services Team
to maintain organization and flow in the warehouse. This also involves working
collaboratively with volunteers who help organize and distribute food. The
Warehouse Attendant is responsible for driving up to and including a 16-foot box
truck and utilizing a hydraulic forklift. This position shall transport food
and other items to/from stores, agencies, distributors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Professional:
The ability to work in a distinctively Christian environment. The
ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional
manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The ability to
work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Must possess the
self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality
of work. Able to work with limited supervision, and work in a team setting with
other professionals. Exercise good judgment and comfortable taking initiative
with projects.
Equipment:
Forklift, telephone, and computer, copy/fax machines, 10-key
calculator.
Skills & Abilities:
Effective verbal and written communication skills must demonstrate ability to
maintain harmonious relations with co-workers, volunteers, clients and donors,
must be able to assume responsibility and carry out duties with minimum
supervision, Ability to prioritize and multitask, Use of computer – email, word
processing and spreadsheets.
* Must be able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing work
environment.
* Must possess or be willing to learn excellent customer service skills.
* Must have ability to work well with others while responding to direction and
feedback.
* This position has access to confidential and private information. It is
essential that confidentiality and privacy be observed.
* The ability to drive a 16-foot box truck.
* The ability to utilize a hydraulic forklift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Properly store and inventory purchased and donated food and non-food products
in warehouse.
* Weigh donated food and record on spreadsheet.
* Communicate in advance to Director of Social Services when a food order needs
to be placed.
