Residential Designer – Custom Homes Designer

We're seeking a full-time Residential Designer to create residential and custom home plans from initial concept through construction-ready drawings. You'll work closely with clients, sales staff, and our construction team to design homes that balance client vision, buildability, and budget — from first sketch to final permit set.

• Meet with clients to understand their needs, style preferences, and budget, translating them into custom home designs
• Develop floor plans, elevations, and design details for new custom homes and remodels
• Produce accurate, construction-ready drawing sets using AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Coordinate with structural engineers, city/county planning departments, and internal construction teams to keep designs code-compliant and buildable
• Revise plans based on client feedback, field conditions, and engineering input
• Maintain organized project files and manage multiple designs at various stages simultaneously
• Stay current on Utah residential building codes and local jurisdiction requirements

• 3+ years of experience in residential design, with a portfolio that includes custom home work
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit (required)
• Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and building codes
• Excellent communication skills — comfortable presenting design concepts directly to clients
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• A keen eye for both aesthetics and practical buildability
• Experience working with custom home builders or architecture firms is a plus
