$17.81 per hour, 4 hours per day, 5 days per week, 177 days per year. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply. There are no benefits with this position. Spanish‑speaking preferred.
Placement on the salary schedule will be reviewed by supervisor and finalized through the Human Resource and Payroll Departments. Candidates already employed with Nebo School District, applying for a new position with a lane increase, may decrease in overall steps in the new position if offered, accepted, and not in the same job category.

Purpose StatementThe job of Instructional Technician – ESL/Migrant is done to provide support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the assessment of students’ English language acquisition from their native language; administering tests; performing classroom clerical tasks and serving as a resource to other school personnel requiring assistance with non‑English speaking persons. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics:
This position is similar to other Lane 1 instructional technicians with the exception that they work with English language learners. This position is similar to an ESL/Migrant Liaison with the exception that makes limited home visits.
This job reports to the School Administrator and District ESL Specialist.
Essential Functions- Administer tests, homework assignments, and make‑up work (e.g., quick informal assessments, WIDA‑Access, accommodations on end‑of‑level assessments) for the purpose of supporting teachers.
- Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments under the direction of a certified teacher to present and/or reinforce learning concepts.
- Implement instructional programs and lesson plans under the supervision of the teacher to present and/or reinforce learning concepts.
- Maintain ESL documents and student folders for accurate documentation for instructional planning and program compliance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Translate verbal and written communication (e.g., IEPs, SEOPs, Back‑to‑School Nights, Parent‑Teacher Conferences, and meetings requested by school administrators and other personnel) to assist students, teachers, and parents in communicating.
Minimum Qualifications
- Skills – translating written documents; operating standard office equipment and pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledge – basic math, including fractions, percents, and ratios; written procedures; routine documents; clear speech; understanding multi‑step written and oral instructions; concepts of grammar and punctuation in both English and the second language; age‑appropriate activities.
- Ability – schedule activities; gather and collate data; use basic, job‑related equipment; work with a diversity of individuals; adhere to prescribed guidelines for problem‑solving; maintain reliable attendance.
Work under direct supervision using standardized procedures; provide information and/or advise others; operate within a defined budget. Utilize resources from other work units if required. Have some opportunity to affect the organization’s services.
Working EnvironmentPhysical demands include some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. The job requires approximately 75 % sitting, 10 % walking, and 15 % standing. The work is performed in a clean and healthy environment.
