Position Overview
The Oregon Department of Justice, Trial Division is seeking to hire an Office Specialist 1 for the Salem Legal Office. The Trial Division defends the State of Oregon and all its agencies, departments, boards, commissions, and district attorney’s offices before the state and federal trial courts in Oregon.
If you are looking for a challenging opportunity with day‑to‑day variety, this may be the position for you. The position requires 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with an hour lunch, full time in office.
Job Duties- Process incoming and outgoing mail (physical and electronic), reviewing documents for typographical errors, accuracy, and completeness.
- Prepare binders for attorneys to take to trial, including printing requested documents, ensuring all documents are in correct order and labeled tabs are provided if requested.
- Prepare files for archive, entering data into the case management system, maintaining a record of files, and transporting files.
- Make scheduled and unscheduled messenger runs in and out of the agency.
- Open and close files using division guidelines.
- Enter data into computerized case management systems and file documents.
- Collect data for case‑management docket control and distribute numerous dockets.
- One year of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents.
- OR an equivalent combination of experience and college coursework or training in a general office occupation.
- Must have and maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license.
- Experience performing alpha‑numeric filing of physical legal documents.
- Experience with electronic document management software and databases.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent attention to detail.
