Job Description
The Program Support Technician will provide a variety of technical and administrative support services to the assigned regional office within DEQ. This position follows a hybrid work schedule (in-office and telework). Candidates must be able to work from the assigned work location in Virginia.
Hiring Range: $35,012 - $45,000
Full Time or Part Time: FULL TIME
This position will provide technical support, administer FOIA activities within the region, support administrative duties such as vehicle use logs, maintain regional databases, provide status and compliance reports, and assist clients with telephone and email queries.
Responsibilities- Assist clients and provide word processing services.
- Process incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Maintain compliance and file management.
- Administer FOIA activities within the region and support other regional administrative duties as needed.
- Perform database management by maintaining regional databases.
- Provide periodic status and compliance reports from agency databases within the time allotted by agency and regional policy.
- Provide customer assistance by handling telephone and email queries.
- Working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of and experience with word processing and report preparation using computers.
- Working knowledge of database operation and management, personal computer operations (word processing, spreadsheet, database software).
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of secretarial and support functions.
The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is the primary environmental permitting agency in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It administers laws and regulations related to air quality, water quality, water supply, renewable energy, and land protection. Over 800 employees across six regional offices and the Central Office in Richmond issue permits, conduct monitoring and inspections, and enforce the law.
