Rinker Design Associates, LLC (RDA) is seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Inspector to oversee compliance on transportation improvement projects along I-81 in the Roanoke area.

This role requires a self-sufficient professional who can perform thorough field inspections in all weather conditions, document findings, and communicate effectively with construction teams and supervisors. The ideal candidate will hold both Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) and Stormwater Management (SWM) Inspector Certifications from DEQ and have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements.

This position is eligible for a company vehicle to take home!

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management regulations
  • Perform on-site monitoring of construction activities to prevent erosion and stormwater violations
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation on findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions
  • Communicate regularly with construction personnel, project managers, and direct supervisors
  • Provide recommendations for corrective actions and follow up on compliance measures
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of DEQ regulations, permit requirements, and best practices
  • Work independently in various weather conditions and navigate active construction sites
What You’ll Need
  • 2+ years in erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, or related environmental inspections
  • DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector Certification
  • DEQ Stormwater Management Inspector Certification
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in all weather conditions
  • Comfortable working in construction environments
  • Strong report writing and documentation abilities
  • Effective communication with construction teams and supervisors
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
  • Familiarity with DEQ requirements and best practices
  • DEQ certifications preffered
