Salem City Schools is searching for qualified applicants for the position of Elementary Instructional Technology Resource Teacher for the School Year.
General Definition and Conditions of WorkPerforms difficult professional work providing teaching and consulting services in the area of technology to both teachers and students. The Elementary Instructional Technology Resource Teacher assists students and teachers to develop and increase their knowledge of computer software, hardware, and peripherals as applied in an educational setting. The primary goal of the Elementary Instructional Technology Resource Teacher is to assist the classroom teacher and enhance his or her ability to motivate students to develop technological skill and acquire confidence and comfort in the use of electronic and digital equipment and educational software as powerful learning tools.
The Elementary Instructional Technology Resource Teacher also performs related work as required. This work is performed under the regular supervision of the school principal. This is an exempt position as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees holding exempt positions often are required to follow a flexible work schedule, which may include working extended hours to meet specific job responsibilities.
The contracted salary covers all hours worked.
Some light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. This job requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. The teacher is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
- Conduct workshops and teach classes
- Teach keyboarding to elementary students
- Teach digital learning integration and computer science standards to elementary students
- Maintain the school’s website, assist teachers to maintain their websites and learning management system
- Help classroom teachers set up and use computers (both laptops and desktops), printers, scanners, external drives, flash (mass memory) storage units, and other peripheral devices, digital cameras, LCD projectors, Smart boards, Geographic Information System/Global Positioning devices (GPS units) and other instructional hardware
- Help teachers effectively utilize instructional software and the Internet within the structure of classroom lessons
- Serve on the assigned school’s technology committee
- Help prepare computer and technology budgets for the school
- Help teachers and students effectively use the GSuite for both instructional and management purposes
- Work with the available resources to gather and utilize data to guide instruction and enable teachers to use data to improve instruction
- Work with the school’s Student Information System database as needed for instructional and grading purposes
- Help with setting up and utilizing online SOL testing when appropriate
- Update classes with new Learning products
- Enter class lists for instructional programs
- Works collaboratively with individuals or groups to integrate technology into instruction
- Creates learning resources for teachers, staff, and students
- Perform related tasks as required
