Job Description
Laurel Ridge is seeking an engaged, creative mathematics instructor. This is a full-time 9-month faculty position that requires teaching any of the mathematics classes at Laurel Ridge Community College. Typical loads for full time faculty are 15 credit hours per semester with 10 student engagement hours required each week. Faculty members are also required to collaborate with others (full and part-time instructors) to ensure teaching uniformity and continuity of material and expectations.
Additional duties may include advising, recruiting, and service on college committees. Faculty members are required to work to help further the goals of the math department and institution. Teaching schedules may include daytime, evening, and weekend, as well as all instructional modalities (in-person, hybrid, and online). Faculty members will also be required to use state-of-the-art classroom teaching technologies. While this position is primarily located at the Fauquier Campus, faculty may be required to teach at other campuses and college locations, as needed by the college.
Faculty members are required to work to help further the goals of the college and support policies dictated by the Virginia Community College System. The successful candidate will also be required to work on developing curriculum for new and existing programs as needed. Candidates must have the required academic background in math field and teaching experience is desired, preferably at the community college or freshman level.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for the position is $54,387 to $117,180, per year, however, actual starting salary will commensurate with education and/or experience. The position is a 9 month faculty role and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies and the Virginia Community College System. KSA's/Required Qualifications
* Master's Degree in Mathematics, or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics or related discipline.
* Ability to teach both online lecture, classroom lecture, and laboratory classes in the day and evening.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in interpersonal, analytical, oral, and written contexts
* Ability to design and deliver courses that expand departmental offerings, including courses offered in traditional, hybrid, and distance formats
