Position: Electrical Fleet Support Engineer (Converter subsystem)

Job Description Summary

The Electrical Fleet Support Engineer for the Converter subsystem will be responsible to provide engineering support for GE Vernova's installed wind turbine fleet, with a strong focus on resolving service cases, troubleshooting field electrical issues and supporting spare part and part replacement decisions. This role works closely with Service, Fleet Performance, Design Engineering, Product Safety, Quality and Manufacturing to deliver timely, practical solutions that improve turbine reliability and performance.

This role is focused on the converter sub-systems, which includes the electrical components, mechanical components (and design), PCBAs, and control solutions. The candidate will work functionally with colleagues across the electrical team to solve issues along with the technical leader, design and validation engineers.


Job Description


Roles and Responsibilities

Leading - with Converter focus:

o Lead and support resolution of service cases involving wind turbine electrical subsystems.

o Troubleshoot and help resolve complex field issues impacting turbine reliability and availability.

o Perform and support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for recurring technical problems.

o Partner with Services and Fleet Performance teams to deliver high-quality, timely case dispositions.

o Support spare parts evaluations and part replacement dispositions at wind sites and manufacturing locations.

o Provide engineering support for non-conformance, product quality, and manufacturing-related issues.

o Coordinate with subsystem design teams to ensure field issues are addressed effectively and lessons learned are captured.

o Support updates to electrical schematics, BOMs, components, installation procedures, and related designs.

o Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that enhance safety, quality, reliability, and fleet performance.

Operation:

o Self-management of daily operations to achieve on-time priorities scheduled with the technical leader. Accountable of the resolution of service cases.

o Work closely with internal customers, fleet support teams, and systems engineering on fleet issues and improvement determinations

Required Qualifications

o Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field with at least 6 years of experience in AC/DC power conversion design including electromechanical, electrical, PCBA and/or firmware.

o With a target of at least 2-3 years experience supporting electrical systems, troubleshooting field issues, or working in a service engineering environment.

o Experience in wind, power generation, manufacturing, or other industrial environments.

o Able to travel to wind farms and climb turbines.

o Experience supporting part replacement decisions, spare parts disposition, or fleet reliability improvements.

o Effective communicator who can work across technical and operational teams. o Product Life Cycle-Management (PLM) expertise

o Strong interpersonal skills including ownership, self-motivation, problem solving, analytical, team player, communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to develop relationships.

o Strong knowledge and design experience on power electronics and power converters.

o Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and technical issue resolution.

o Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams.

o Familiarity with electrical schematics, components, and BOMs.

o Fluent in English (spoken and written).
