Position: Agriculture Services Inspector 2 (Shipping Point Inspector 2)

What you’ll be doing

An Agriculture Services Inspector 2 will support the department’s mission to safeguard Oregon’s agriculture, natural resources, working lands, economies, and communities by performing a range of inspection and sampling duties. The position is located in the Klamath Falls Shipping Point Inspection District and is seasonal part-time.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct shipping point inspections of Oregon agricultural commodities.
  • Perform phytosanitary inspections and issue certificates to support export.
  • Carry out official sampling and witnessing activities.
  • Complete food safety sampling and inspections.
  • Execute field inspections and sample processing.
  • Survey for exotic insects or pathogens.
  • Assist with other Agriculture Services Division or agency assignments as directed.
Qualifications
  • One season of experience performing agricultural inspections, or
  • One year of experience in a commercial fruit or vegetable growing, grading, or marketing enterprise.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to regularly lift objects 50–60 lbs.
  • Residence within 30 miles of Klamath Falls, OR.
Requested Skills
  • General knowledge of Oregon agriculture and inspection processes.
  • Basic arithmetic skills.
  • Accurate written record keeping of inspection activities and fee collections.
  • Effective oral and written communication with a variety of stakeholders.
