A Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned facilities, areas, and equipment, including minor plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, painting, heating and cooling and other building systems. An ideal candidate will have experience with hospital maintenance procedures, use of basic hand and power tools, and strong problem‑solving, communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities- Physically capable and available to work overtime, including weekends, public holidays, evenings or nights.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities, time management skills, attention to detail and good hand‑eye coordination.
- Professional presentation and attitude with the ability to accentuate customer service through strong organizational skills and follow up.
- Maintain focus while working individually.
- Reference repair manuals or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Complete minor building component repair work that does not require a specialized technician, such as repairing doors, locks, door frames, handles, patch and repair work for walls and touch‑up paint.
- Complete minor electrical repair work, such as bulb replacement, ballast swaps.
- Complete minor plumbing tasks, such as unclogging drains.
- Complete minor HVAC tasks, such as checking hot/cold calls, changing PTAC units, filter replacements.
- Perform normal cleanup duties, including sweeping, dusting, mopping and vacuuming.
- Use various basic hand and power tools.
- Assess needs for repair and maintenance of the building and building components through surveying and receiving requests from customers.
- Conduct periodic quality checks on building systems and components to ensure functional operability.
- Maintain appearances and functionality of assigned areas.
- Implement tasks set forth in Preventative Maintenance procedures as assigned in the CMMS system.
- Respond, assess and troubleshoot corrective work requests logged in the CMMS system promptly.
- Maintain inventory records for equipment and supplies as required.
- Plan and schedule repairs within the day‑to‑day operations of the hospital environment.
