Sinto America Surface Technologies provides precision shot peening, blasting and cleaning services through its National Peening and Technical Metal Finishing divisions.

National Peening is currently seeking a Shipping & Receiving Clerk/Quality Inspector to join our Team in Salem, VA.

What You Will Do:This dual-role position combines hands‑on Shipping & Receiving responsibilities with oversight of Quality Inspection and Processes.

General

  • Complete Shipping & Receiving Clerk duties such as receiving incoming materials and matching to purchase orders.
  • Prepare outgoing shipments, ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation (BOLs, packing slips).
  • Schedule and coordinate shipments with carriers; track deliveries and resolve shipping issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and shipping/receiving records.
  • Cooperate and work closely with shop employees and Production Supervisor to ensure on‑time deliveries and customer satisfaction.
  • Keep shipping and receiving areas organized and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform general office tasks as required.
  • Maintain quality control procedures for washing, burning, and peening services.
  • Perform inspections and testing of incoming in‑process, and finished parts to ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal standards.
  • Investigate non‑conformances and lead corrective/preventive actions.
  • Maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, certifications, and audit records.
  • Work with production staff to train on quality procedures and promote a quality‑first culture.
  • Speak with customers regarding quality issues, requirements, and audits.

What We Want From You

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
    Associate degree or technical training is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in shipping/receiving and/or quality control in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems is preferred.
  • Experience with peening, washing, or burning processes is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in using ERP or inventory management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, shipping software, etc.)
