Travel RN - GI​/Endoscopy

Overview

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a GI/Endoscopy position in Salem, VA, requiring 2 years of RN experience and active BLS and ACLS certifications.

• Active VA or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, including at least 1 year of recent Endoscopy experience
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

• Located on the 2nd floor of the main hospital building in an Endoscopy unit with 4 procedure rooms
• Day shift position, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Approximately 20–30 patients move through the department each weekday
• Staff is primarily RNs on day shift, supported by scrub techs and scope room techs; night shift is on-call only
• Common procedures include EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, and bronchoscopy
• Equipment used includes Olympus scopes and Provation procedural documentation
• EMR system is Meditech
• Weekday and weekend on-call required
• Floating is rare
• All RNs are cross-trained to admit patients, circulate and scrub in procedural cases, recover patients, and manage discharges
• PACU or ICU background is preferred but not required
• Ideal candidates are fast-paced, adaptable multi-taskers who are team-oriented and comfortable in frequently changing environments
• Hospital-issued surgical scrubs provided; no visible piercings permitted
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
