A leading acute care hospital in Salem, Virginia is seeking an experienced Vice President Surgical Services to oversee and lead all aspects of Surgical Services operations.

About the Role:

The Vice President Surgical Services will provide executive leadership for a comprehensive surgical services department, ensuring high-quality patient care, operational efficiency, financial stewardship, and regulatory compliance. This leader will collaborate closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and executive teams to support service line growth and organizational objectives.

Department Highlights:

• 11 Main Operating Rooms + 2 CVOR Suites

• 3 Endoscopy Suites

• Level II Trauma Center

• Robotics Program: 3 Da Vinci Systems + 2 Mako Robots

• Surgical Specialties Include:

• General Surgery
• GYN
• Neurosurgery
• Spine Surgery
• Cardiovascular Surgery
• Bariatric Surgery
• Orthopedics
• Surgical Oncology
• Urology
• ENT

• Approximately 600-700 Surgical Cases Per Month

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and operational oversight of Surgical Services

• Drive quality improvement initiatives and patient safety outcomes

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards

• Lead staffing, workforce planning, and employee engagement efforts

• Manage departmental budgets, productivity, and resource utilization

• Partner with physicians and executive leadership to enhance existing programs and develop new services

• Support growth initiatives and improve operational performance

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) - Required

• Master's Degree - Required

• Minimum 5+ years of progressive Surgical Services leadership experience within an Acute Care Hospital setting

• Demonstrated success in managing surgical operations, quality initiatives, staffing, and financial performance

Preferred Qualifications:

• CVOR leadership experience

• Experience with robotic surgery programs

• Leadership experience in a high-volume surgical environment
