American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU position requiring NRP certification and preterm infant IV insertion skills.
Details- Work in a 6-bed NICU (5 open bays, 1 isolation room) within a hospital setting
- Care for critically ill preterm and term infants at a 1:2-3 patient ratio
- Unit staffed with RNs and Respiratory Therapists
- Utilize GE 650 monitors, Medela breast pumps, syringe pumps, IV pumps, and bili-lights
- Chart using Meditech and Centricity Perinatal documentation systems
- Schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
- Required to work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Arrive in time for huddle at 6:45
- Float to Birth Response/Stork Nurse role as needed
- Active RN license (VA or Compact)
- Current BLS and NRP (Advanced 9th Edition) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Experience with IV insertion in preterm and term infants required
- Advanced skills required in ventilator support, CPAP, UVC placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, and TPN/lipid administration
- Strong independent assessment skills with knowledge of signs of declining health in preterm infants
- Strong communication skills and breastfeeding support knowledge
- US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Perform newborn resuscitation, intubation, umbilical line placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, chest tube insertion, and NG/OG feedings
- Collaborate closely with a supportive neonatology team in a newly opened NICU (2023) featuring new equipment
- Follow AIDET communication standards and maintain a courteous, respectful patient experience
- Hospital-provided scrubs required; change into scrubs upon arrival and departure
- Block scheduling available
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
